According to the NTSB, a runway incursion that occurred on May 29 at Charlotte (N.C.) Douglas International Airport involving a PC-12 turboprop single and CRJ200 regional
jet nearly resulted in a ground collision. At about 10:17 a.m. that day, the PSA Airlines CRJ200–operated as a US Airways Express flight–was cleared for takeoff on Runway 18L. After the CRJ was into its takeoff roll, controllers cleared Pilatus PC-12 N409DR to taxi into position and hold farther down the same runway. Controllers cancelled the CRJ’s takeoff clearance after a warning system alerted them of the runway incursion. The FAA reported that the CRJ stopped about 10 feet from the PC-12. The weather was VMC with nine miles visibility; no injuries were reported aboard the two aircraft.
