Chrome- and lead-free primers available

Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings has introduced a full line of primers that are free of chrome and lead hazards. The products meet three key industry requirements–faster priming application, protection of the aircraft substrate and compliance with OSHA standards for chromate and lead exposure.

The line includes epoxy primer, epoxy primer surfacer and urethane primer. According to director of sales Marc Taylor, “These new low-VOC [volatile organic compounds], two-component, corrosion-inhibitive products contain no hexavalent chromium and subsequently meet OSHA’s latest standard for occupation exposure.”
