Three killed in power line strike

Bell 206-L3, Vetas, Colombia, Nov. 24, 2008–The helicopter, operated by Aero Charter Adina S.A., was destroyed and the pilot and two passengers killed when it crashed shortly after takeoff. The helicopter had just lifted off from a soccer field and had cleared nearby power lines when it lost directional control while making a right turn. It then spun to the left, descended and struck the power lines. A local police officer who witnessed the crash reported an unusually strong wind that swept through the valley just as the helicopter was turning. The accident is being investigated by the Government of Colombia.
