Ameco Aviation College expansion complete

After 18 months and approximately $6.9 million, Ameco Aviation College (AAC) on Beijing Capital International Airport has opened the doors on its new addition. The four-story, 27-classroom portion of the building and two-story attached workshop feature a solar heating system and extensive building insulation to reduce energy consumption. 

“Despite a slowdown in the maintenance industry worldwide, the existing number of qualified mechanics cannot meet the requirement of the MRO market. There continues to be an international market for maintenance technicians,” an Ameco spokesman said.

The facility includes computer-based training classrooms, multifunctional classrooms and three rooms dedicated to administering written, oral and practical exams. The workshop portion of the facility includes a main practice workshop on the first floor and eight workshops on the second floor designed to host electrical/ avionics skill training, hydraulic/mechanical skill training and composite repair skill training.

AAC, an approved maintenance training organization under the Chinese CCAR Part 147 and EASA Part 147, now has the capacity to host approximately 400 students for type training and 550 students for basic and apprentice training for the Ameco work force, the Air China Group and other domestic and international customers.
