Capital Aviation Earns STC for Waas in CL600s

Capital Aviation (Booth No. 4442) of Bethany, Okla., has gained a supplemental type certificate (STC) for an upgrade of the Challenger 600 series that includes a Universal Avionics Waas-capable flight management system, EFI-890R display upgrade and terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS). The initial upgrade
installation, marketed under Capital Aviation’s “Reflections Program,” included dual UNS-1Lw flight management systems, Class-A TAWS and a suite of four LCD flat-panel displays. The STC, awarded on October 13, includes approval for 3-D coupled Waas GPS (Rnav) approaches. Capital Aviation said its Challenger 600 upgrade program can also include a new instrument panel, club seating, custom paint, additional cabin windows, HD entertainment system and upgraded lighting. The company bills the conversion as an alternative to buying a new Bombardier Challenger 605.
