March 16 through 18 marks the dates for the third annual Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) Society’s maintenance skills competition (MSC). The event will be held in conjunction with the Aviation Industry Expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The competition pits teams of five AMTs against one another on a challenging course that includes 12 events ranging from basic safety wiring
to turbine engine trouble-shooting and avionics troubleshooting.
In two years, the event has grown from nine to 15 teams, said Ken MacTiernan, AMT Society director/chairman MSC.
“We already have 23 teams scheduled to compete within five different categories: commercial, general aviation, military, schools and MRO/OEM.” All AMTs compete in the same events but are scored only against teams within their respective category.
The competition is open to any licensed mechanic associated with any organization, company, corporation or U.S. or foreign military organizations. Additionally, students enrolled in an FAA-, EASA-, CASA- or equivalent authorized school may enter.
