Twin Commander Gets Garmin G600

Naples Jet Center in Naples, Fla., last month performed a dual Garmin G600 panel refurbishment in a Twin Commander 1000 as part of a complete panel redesign and aircraft refurbishment. The panel replacement began by removing the old wiring and installing all new harnesses for the new custom panel. Using technology derived from the G1000 avionics system, the G600 package replaces old-style mechanical instruments with LCD displays. The installed system also included a scaled version of Garmin’s SVT synthetic-vision system, which uses graphics modeling to create a 3-D topographic landscape on the PFDs. In addition to the two G600 displays, Naples Jet Center also installed Garmin GNS-530 and -430 GPS Waas navigators, GMA-347 audio panel, two GTX-330 transponders, an Avidyne EX500 MFD and XM satellite weather receiver.
