Garmin Launches New Helo Products

Garmin unveiled the G500H glass avionics system and a terrain awareness and warning system (Taws) for the helicopter market just before Heli-Expo last month. The G500H, a derivative of the G600 and G500 for the fixed-wing market, includes features such as helicopter synthetic vision; helicopter-specific databases, with more than 7,000 heliports and nearly 30,000 additional qlow-altitude obstacles; XM satellite weather; and FLIR head-down displays. Its helicopter Taws for Garmin GNS 430W/530W GPS navcoms provides helicopter pilots with graphical and audible alerts of potential terrain and obstacle conflicts along the flight path.
