AgustaWestland has appointed Sky Maintenance Services (SMS) of France an authorized service center for the A109, AW109 Power, Grand and GrandNew light twin-engine helicopters. Based in Le Castellet in southern France, the service center will feature a new hangar providing maintenance and repair services as well as a parts inventory. SMS also has a hangar facility at the heliport in the Principality of Monaco and a base in Archamps, close to Geneva, enabling the company to serve two areas where there are a growing number of AgustaWestland light twins operating. According to a company spokesman, AgustaWestland has about 20 light twins operating in France and sees further business opportunities in executive transport and EMS/search-and-rescue. There are about 70 AgustaWestland service centers worldwide and the company intends to keep expanding the network.
