P&WC, TAP partner on T-prop service

Pratt & Whitney Canada and the Brazilian maintenance and engineering division of TAP Portugal announced an agreement to provide "comprehensive engine overhaul services for the PT6A and PW100 turboprop engine operators in Latin America." Engine services will be provided by TAP at its Porto Alegre facility, which offers the region's only engine test cells. P&WC Brazil in Sorocaba will be responsible for selling and marketing the engine MRO services as well as providing warranties, managing customer relationships and supplying spare parts and technical assistance. According to TAP senior v-p of maintenance and engineering Nestor Koch, the facility can handle 52 engine overhauls a year and expects to do as many as 42 over the next 12 months. TAP Maintenance & Engineering supports TAP Portugal Airlines' maintenance and engineering services. The MRO is both FAA and EASA certified.
