Bombardier business jet operators now have more options in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) has opened a line maintenance station in Riga, Latvia. The operation recently completed the required audit by the German Airworthiness Authority, acting on behalf of the EASA, and the facility is now open. It is a joint effort with a local partner–Baltic Business Aviation Center/FBO Riga–offering line maintenance support for the Learjet 40/45/60, Challenger 601/604/605 and Global 5000 and Express XRS. LBAS provides manpower, tools and material support matched by FBO Riga's hangar space right next to its FBO at Riga International Airport. FBO Riga offers fuel, aircraft de-/anti-icing, overnight aircraft storage and passenger and crew handling, including customs and immigration. Immediately after the operation was approved, Austria-based International Jet Management signed a contract to support the Global Express it bases at Riga. The operation plans to add Challenger 850, BBJ and ACJ capability in addition to warranty work on some models.
