BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) has opened a 24/7 AOG technical support center at its Dallas Airmotive division headquarters. The mission-control-style command center uses satellite technology to fuse resources in real time by coordinating and tracking the location of field service technicians, rental engines, mobile response vehicles and tooling worldwide. BBA ERO president Hugh McElroy said the new center allows the company to quickly handle “decisions on resource allocation that used to take hours,” while the customer is online or on the telephone. The center is staffed by field service technical managers and engineers as well as by quality assurance and logistics specialists. BBA is OEM-authorized to service more than 80 percent of the engines on the world’s turbine business aircraft. The company has 115 field service representatives, 12 regional service centers, and four major overhaul centers worldwide. In addition to being able to react quickly to AOGs, BBA said the new center will also have analytical and predictive capabilities, allowing it to pre-position assets and personnel ahead of events by analyzing historical databases.
