Piaggio Avanti, Clearwater, Fla., Sept. 12, 2010–The turboprop twin was substantially damaged when it made a gear-up landing at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport after an aborted maintenance test flight. According to the NTSB, the pilot reported a problem with the controls and said he believed the gear was deployed as he landed. Subsequent examination found all the landing gear stowed in their wells with the doors closed. The two-person crew was uninjured.
