Innotech Aviation, the Montreal-based cabin environmental safety specialist, has received EASA approval for its I-Cair cabin air quality system for the Bombardier Global Express and Global Express XRS.
Already approved by the FAA in June this year, I-Cair was developed jointly by Innotech and Montreal-based Air Data using Air Data’s JetAir Bio-Protection technology.
Installations are being done at Innotech’s completion center in Montreal and can
be installed as part of an in-service or retrofit program.
According to Innotech director of sales and marketing Tony Rawlinson, “EASA certification of the I-Cair system is the final phase of our worldwide expansion of this product.”
The system is derived from patented “cold plasma ionic interaction” technology similar to that used on the International Space Station. It is an “active” design using an electric sterilization technique to “catch and inactivate” air contaminants. A key example of the system’s effectiveness can be seen in “the substantial reduction in cabin ozone levels,” said Rawlinson.
Innotech has also received FAA multiple-STC approvals for its I-Ku airborne high-speed Internet system for Bombardier’s Global Express XRS and Global 5000.
The system incorporates the ViaSat VMT-1500 airborne high-speed Internet terminal and delivers data and voice connections via the ViaSat Yonder service. The I-Ku package can be installed in 10 to 15 days, depending on aircraft configuration, and weighs less than 45 pounds.
A base price of $500,000 buys the turn-key package with a fixed monthly service fee of approximately $6,000 for unlimited worldwide access.
