Jet Works Air Center of Denton, Texas has won a “multi-million-dollar contract” for re-configuration of an MD-87 to an executive role.
The MD-87 will be outfitted for 24 passengers and will include “a leading-edge entertainment system [and] Wi-Fi, high-speed Internet access and air-to-ground communications.”
Jet Works delivered a Boeing 737 and three BBJs last year, all of them cabin refurbishment jobs and one a major project. All four were for Middle East customers, as is the MD-87 now in the works.
The growing Middle East market for single-aisle and widebody bizliner outfitting was one of the reasons Jet Works and sister company and broker/dealer Business Air International made a first appearance at the MEBA 2010 aviation trade show last month in Dubai.
Jet Works operates out of some 100,000 square feet of hangar space at Denton Municipal Airport, not far from D/FW International. In addition to completion and refurbishment work, the center also handles heavy maintenance and modification and avionics upgrades, as well as exterior paint for business jets as large as a G550.
