Eclipse 500s Cleared To FL410 Again

Eclipse Aerospace said the FAA has approved Eclipse 500s to return to a maximum certified ceiling of 41,000 feet, effective immediately upon the installation of the recently recertified combustion liners. Eclipse and Pratt & Whitney Canada have worked on the new combustion liners to resolve the issue of carbon buildup on the static vanes of some PW610F engines, the powerplant for the Eclipse 500. “If the customer has a Gold Eagle Service Plan the fix is included and there is no charge; if the operator does not have the plan the cost is $14,950 per engine, which also includes enrollment in the ESP program,” Ken Ross, president of Eclipse Aerospace service division, told AIN. According to Ross, the work must be done at either an Eclipse- or P&WC-certified facility. It requires about two-and-a-half days to complete the procedure on-wing.
