Mid-Continent Signs Supply Agreement for Lithium Batteries

Mid-Continent Instrument and A123 Systems signed an agreement for Mid-Continent to distribute and supply A123 lithium-ion battery technology for the aviation market. “Mid-Continent’s True Blue Power division will work with customers to develop custom power solutions using A123’s innovative lithium-ion chemistry for a wide range of aviation-related applications,” said True Blue Power division director John Gallman. This includes A123 lithium-ion cells, modules and custom power solutions. The True Blue Power TS835 is the first TSO-approved emergency power supply that employs A123 lithium-iron nanophosphate technology. In the TS835, benefits of the A123 lithium-ion batteries include “high power, excellent safety and long life,” according to Mid-Continent Instrument. The TS835 is also 66 percent lighter than emergency power supplies that use lead-acid batteries, and it has five times longer life.
