The FAA has issued technical standard order approval for the L-3 Aviation Products GH-3900 electronic standby instrument system. The GH-3900 meets Level A software and hardware standards and features a sunlight-readable three-inch display that is customizable to match primary avionics systems. Aircraft manufacturers can specify colors and data layouts so that there is no pilot confusion when viewing the GH-3900, and also choose “a variety of air data and heading input selections, as well as optional built-in accelerometers and a non-ITAR night vision goggle-compatible solution,” according to L-3. OEMs that have selected the GH-3900 include Bombardier for the Learjet 70/75, Cessna for the Ten, Embraer for the KC-390 and Rockwell Collins for Pro Line Fusion flight decks.
