Honeywell Wins Inmarsat GX Distributorship

Global mobile satellite communications provider Inmarsat has signed a master distribution agreement with Honeywell for Inmarsat’s Global Xpress (GX) satellite service that includes a long-term joint marketing deal to bring the product to business aviation. According to Inmarsat, the agreement involves a “significant five-year capacity purchase by Honeywell” and reserve capacity up to 2021.

Inmarsat’s GX operates through the company’s Ka-band satellite system. It is scheduled to begin airline service in 2014 and provide the service to business aviation customers beginning in the first quarter of 2015. The Ka-band network is expected to offer “unprecedented data rates of up to 50 mbps,” as well as global coverage for high-speed Internet connectivity.
