Floating Heliport Planned for Sydney Harbor

Australian operator Newcastle Helicopters has plans to launch a floating heliport in Sydney’s harbor in the middle of this year. The powered, flat-top vessel will feature two helipad sites, aircraft storage, refueling facilities and meeting rooms. Passengers will access the heliport by “existing water taxi services and other commercial operators.” Although Newcastle Helicopters claims to have worked closely with the relevant regulators, including the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Roads and Maritime Services and Sydney Ports, local councils have voiced opposition to the project, according to theaustralian.com.
