Able Aerospace Services Opens New Facility
Subject Area
Content Body

Able Aerospace Services has completed the move into larger headquarters at Phoenix-Gateway Airport. The company repairs and overhauls parts for rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft and offers FAA-approved repair alternatives to buying new parts.

The new custom-designed facility provides advanced metal finishing, hydraulic repair and on-site aircraft repair. Approximately 350 employees work in the 191,000 sq ft of engineering and manufacturing space, which includes a new purpose-built hangar capable of accommodating aircraft up to a Boeing 737. The new hangar allows for expanded airframe maintenance, refurbishments, inspections and complete aircraft teardown.

Other new or expanded turnkey capabilities are machining, non-destructive testing, computerized welding, paint, complete fixed-wing and rotary-wing component repairs, all completed in-house. Able can handle all types of required aircraft component plating and refinishing processes in-house.

According to Anthony Saenz, the company’s president, Able invested $1.4 million in zero-discharge environmental technology that exceeds all city, state and federal environmental guidelines while nearly doubling the capacity of the previous location. The expanded in-house capacity and metal finishing capabilities have reduced turnaround times, in some cases by as much as 50 percent, he said.
