Kaunas, Lithuania-based FL Technics is implementing a $15 million MRO development plan (including $4 million in high-tech equipment) that will create almost 300 new jobs, including more than 200 aircraft mechanics, engineers and other aviation technical personnel supporting commercial and business aviation customers. The company is focusing on operators from Europe, the CIS and Asia-Pacific.

According to Martynas Grigalavicius, head of FT Technics’s aircraft maintenance base, the new MRO center will be able to accommodate up to five Airbus A320s or other aircraft of similar sizesimultaneously. Moreover, the extended FL Technics capabilities will enable the company to service aircraft such as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 747.

A Boeing GoldCare partner, FL Technics offers base and line maintenance, A- to D-checks, engine and landing gear replacement, component and composite repair shops, NDT, cabin refurbishment, aircraft livery change and other services.

Grigalavicius sees growing demand for maintenance. “The air transportation market in Europe is steadily recovering. Location-wise, the Kaunas hangar is perfectly positioned to serve carriers from both the West and the East. We are planning to welcome the first aircraft in the Kaunas hangar in the New Year,” he said.
