BizJet International’s Chinese BBJ On Display at ABACE

Boeing’s ABACE static display featured a BBJ delivered by Bizjet International of Tulsa, Okla., Lufthansa Technik’s single-aisle completions subsidiary, to Nanshan Jet in October for an undisclosed Chinese customer. “It’s our first BBJ completion delivered to China, but our seventh completion overall in the market,” said Brian Barber, v-p of sales and marketing, using that message “to showcase our knowledge of working with Chinese culture, Chinese aviation authorities and the CAAC.” In November BizJet International signed a BBJ2 completion contract with a Chinese customer and is in discussions with several others.

BizJet International sees demand ahead for aftermarket refurbishments of legacy ACJs and BBJs, and recently expanded its facilities in preparation. “We’re at the beginning of the curve for the heavy checks and the lifecycle upgrades of these airplanes, so we need to have the capacity for operators to have a place to take them,” Barber said.
