StandardAero Expands Cincinnati Composite Repair Cell

A new 30,000-sq-ft composite processing and repair center will be developed within StandardAero Components’ existing 250,000-sq-ft MRO facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is intended to meet the growing market demand for the development of new composite repairs for aircraft and ground-based engine hardware and aircraft structures.

Rick Stine, president of StandardAero Military & Components, told AIN, “The expansion is an outgrowth of demand designed to increase our capacity. However, we are also adding new equipment that will allow us to expand our capability to include working on GE90 fans, booster vanes and CVTs as well as CFM56/CF6 acoustic panels, OGVs, bearing supports and spinner cones.”

The expanded capabilities include dedicated processes for the repair and overhaul of fan cases, acoustic liners, stationary air/oil seals, spinner cones, fans, outer guide vanes and vane booster assemblies, to name a few.

“We view these new capabilities as a ‘business-within-a-business’ within our expanded composite processing cell, complete with dedicated manufacturing, engineering and quality in a self-contained processing center that handles only composite overhauls, repairs and repair developments,” Stine said.
