Proposed AD Issued for Falcon 50 Slats

The FAA has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking on an airworthiness directive (AD) for the Dassault Falcon 50 slat system. It is prompted by an intermittent indication of slat activity caused by chafing of the electrical wiring. The AD would require installing two protective plates between the electrical wiring under the glareshield and the engine fire handles to prevent a potential short circuit and generation of smoke in the cockpit, potential loss of several functions essential for safe flight, and consequent reduced controllability of the airplane.
