The FAA has issued Avionics & Systems Integration Group (ASIG) an amendment to the Part 25 approved model list (AML) STC for its flyTab Class 2 iPad EFB installation, adding the Bombardier Dash 8-100/200/300 and Q400 to the STC. The AML STC is available for both U.S. and Canadian operators of the types covered by the STC. ASIG’s eXtreme Flight Bag (XFB) system adds more rugged components to the mounting system for iPads in cockpits. Components include the flyTab InCase iPad housing, two flyTab Power Conditioning Modules “with integrated switch-annunciator support for en route lithium-ion battery protective device charging” and the flyTab Aircraft Interface Module, which connects up to two iPads to certain aircraft avionics systems. The XFB supports iPad apps such as Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro, Lufthansa Systems Lido and ForeFlight Mobile.
