Safe Flight founder Leonard Greene and his son Randall are the winners of this year’s Nall award recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to aviation and transportation safety. The duo was recognized on November 13 at the annual event jointly organized by the International Air & Transportation Safety Bar Association (IATSBA), an organization of U.S. attorneys.
Safe Flight Instrument Corporation was founded by the late Leonard Greene in 1946 when the White Plains, N.Y.-based company launched its angle-of-attack indicator, a system to warn pilots of an impending aerodynamic stall. The wing leading edge flow measurement device Leonard invented is installed on many different categories of aircraft.
Randall Greene is now president of the company, which has since developed numerous other safety- and performance-enhancing aircraft systems.
