Agusta 139 Airworthiness Directive Superseded

The FAA last week announced a new AD will replace 2014-07-51 that required repetitive inspections of some Agusta AB 139 and AW139 helicopter main rotor scissors for possible play in the bearings. The new AD, 2014-07-51, that becomes effective December 15, 2014, retains the requirements of the original directive, but adds the requirement for a special nut. Both ADs were created to prevent a potential failure of the main rotor scissors and a potential later loss of control of the helicopter.
