Content Body

Ghana’s presidential jet, a Falcon 900, experienced a wheel fire and lost two wheels from the left main landing gear during an aborted takeoff last week at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra. Neither Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, nor any of his staff, was aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.

According to a Ghana Armed Forces source, the aircraft was preparing for takeoff but returned to the ramp with an unidentified computer problem that was apparently resolved. The incident occurred during the second takeoff attempt.

Witnesses observed the aircraft veering left and right, but the crew managed to keep the aircraft on the runway surface.

Damage to the aircraft is unknown, as are the identities of the people who were aboard the aircraft, none of whom was injured in the incident.
