The U.S. Helicopter Safety Team (USHST) last month released its new audio-slide presentation series called “Reel Safety,” aimed at enhancing helicopter safety. The first collection of Reel-Safety topics are emergency decision making; controlled flight into terrain; inadvertent entry Into cloud or fog; training to survive a real autorotation; energy in autorotations; and setting the right example.
“Each presentation is just five to six minutes but is filled with critical information that can help both new and veteran helicopter operators alike," according to Nick Mayhew, USHST training working group chairman.
The helicopter safety team plans to expand the Reel Safety library from these initial six topics to as many as 19 before year-end.
