Green laser temporarily blinds pilot of a traffic-reporting aircraft.
Content Body

The pilot of a single-engine Cessna being operated by San Francisco’s KCBS TV on April 2 was temporarily blinded by a green laser that hit him in the eye while his passenger-newscaster was reporting traffic at approximately 6:45 a.m. His aircraft was orbiting the area near San Ramon east of Oakland at the time of the incident. The pilot was able to land the aircraft and was later treated and released from a local hospital after complaining of a burning sensation in his eyes. The traffic reporter said he did not notice the laser until the pilot mentioned the incident. Research has proven that green lasers are much more powerful than red ones.
