Signature Flight Support this week is celebrating the dedication of renovated facilities at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL). The Detroit opening comes less than year after Signature acquired the assets of AFCO/Quantem FBO Services (known as Metro Flight Services) at the airport. Signature also took over business aviation FBO, fueling and ground-handling services from its sister company, Aircraft Service International Group, at the airport, becoming the sole business aviation FBO service provider there.
Signature invested $1.3 million to renovate the facilities at DTW, including a 75,000-sq-ft hangar and improved access to the FBO. The terminal has been revamped to include new conference rooms, a pilot lounge with separate quiet room and VIP lounge. Other improvements include expanded parking lots that can accommodate 250 vehicles. “Detroit is very special to us, so much so that we are reintroducing the Signature Flight Support brand back into this community,” Signature president and COO Maria Sastre said during the April 20 dedication of newly renovated facilities.
The STL dedication comes one day after DTW. Those renovations involved upgraded furnishings, heating and air conditioning, flight planning area and other amenities. The company also expanded the pilot lounge and flight planning area. Signature had moved into STL in 2008 after acquiring of the former Midcoast FBO assets. At the time, the STL facility was its 42nd FBO. Signature now has a network of more than 125 locations.
