Honeywell unveiled a new multifunction router that it says will increase aircraft connectivity options both on the ground and in flight. The CNX-250 multifunction router enables aircraft to connect to cellular networks while on the ground, as well to transition to satellite service to enable both Wi-Fi and telephone connections while the aircraft is in flight, Honeywell announced today.
“Passengers worldwide are hungering for better connectivity and more expanded services through all phases of flight,” said Honeywell Aerospace senior director of marketing and product management Rebecca Sidelinger. “The new CNX-250 router means an aircraft doesn’t have to taxi outside the hangar for connectivity when Wi-Fi is required for ground maintenance operations,” she said.
The CNX-250 will gradually replace the Honeywell’s CNX-200 router once aircraft installation certification is completed, the company said. Honeywell is partnering with TrueNorth Avionics to bring the new unit to the market.
