The pilots of a Beech C99 that experienced an uncommanded flight control incident just after departure from Salt Lake City reported the aircraft operated normally during takeoff and rotation, according to the NTSB. Immediately after liftoff, however, there was an uncommanded right rudder input that forced the aircraft to yaw.
Unable to provide adequate trim or rudder input to remain on the centerline, the pilots aborted the takeoff with the aircraft landing hard. During the landing roll, the aircraft swerved side to side and the left main landing gear subsequently collapsed, substantially damaging the left wing. Neither of the two pilots was injured in the incident. The aircraft, being operated by Ameriflight, departed Salt Lake City in VFR conditions at approximately 8 a.m.
