Flying Colours is expecting to receive an FAA STC for ADS-B OUT in the Challenger 604 and 605 in September. Following FAA approval, the STC should be validated by Transport Canada and EASA. The STC development was done by the St Louis, Mo. branch of Flying Colours, but all of the company’s locations will be able to install the upgrade, including the headquarters in Peterborough, Ontario (Canada) and the Singapore facility. The company has been developing the Challenger ADS-B OUT upgrade for the past 12 months and said it selected that model “as it is one of the most consistent airframes in the Flying Colours portfolio.”
“We have invested considerably in our internal avionics, sales and engineering teams in conjunction with outside engineering resources to develop this solution,” said Flying Colours director of sales Kevin Kliethermes. “Our STC requires minimal downtime for installation and fully meets the mandate requirements for DO-260B compliance.” Flying Colours plans to take orders for the ADS-B upgrade at this year’s NBAA show in November. The next candidate for the Flying Colours ADS-B OUT upgrade is likely the Challenger 300.
