Supersonic business jet developer Aerion Corp. appointed South Florida-based Equus Global Aviation as its exclusive authorized sales representative for Central and South America, including parts of the Caribbean and Mexico. Equus specializes in buying and selling new and pre-owned large-cabin, long-range business jets. Its three partners—Richard Laggan, Sherry Cannon and Gary Anzalone—have collectively completed more than $4 billion in business aircraft transactions, arranging structured financing for many of these sales.

Aerion’s Mach 1.5 AS2 business jet is currently undergoing the advanced design phase, during which the aircraft’s propulsion systems, structures, avionics and equipment are specified and sourced. The company, which has partnered with Airbus on the program, is targeting first flight of the three-engine SSBJ in the 2019 time frame, with entry into service expected in 2022.

“The Equus team brings exceptional experience and international know-how to the Aerion sales organization,” said Aerion chief commercial officer Ernie Edwards. “Equus well understands the needs of global travelers and brings passion, as well as great technical knowledge, to the task of introducing the tremendous time-saving advantages of the AS2 to Latin American markets." Equus managing partner Richard Laggan said the AS2, priced at $120 million, “will help our clients bridge oceans and continents as no other aircraft can.”
