Content Body

Thanks to the World Economic Forum (WEF) that opens tomorrow in Davos, Switzerland, WingX Advance expects business aviation traffic this week to be twice that of normal levels at Zurich, Duebendorf, Altenrhein and St. Moritz Airports. Last year’s WEF was the busiest in three years and doubled the rest-of-year daily frequency of business aviation movements at these four principal WEF airports.

During WEF 2015, from January 20 to 24, a total of 1,174 movements were recorded at these airports. While the traffic ramp-up to an average of 235 movements per day during last year’s WEF is impressive, it is eclipsed by the 280 movements per day during the Monaco Grand Prix and the 1,200 daily movements during the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans, according to WingX.

Germany, France, UK and Switzerland were the main points of origin for business aviation flights coming into the WEF airports last year, it noted. From outside Europe, the U.S. accounted for 7 percent of arrivals; Russia, 5 percent; and Nigeria, 1 percent.
