Greek charter provider GainJet Aviation has begun commercial operations in Ireland after its GainJet Ireland subsidiary received an air operator' certificate (AOC) from the Irish Aviation Authority. Based at Shannon Airport, the company offers a Challenger 604 (EI-KMA), which it will rotate among Ireland, the UK and Greece.
“GainJet Ireland was established with a particular mission in mind,” noted GainJet Ireland CEO Dimitrios Kehayas, “to expand GainJet’s coverage of Europe and the West, while also supporting its current operations. We will test base locations for EI-KMA to examine where the ideal base would be for accomplishing our aligned mission."
The company says it chose Shannon for its strategic location for transatlantic traffic, and its growing status as a hub for aviation leasing companies. While its main focus is on European operations, the company is looking to expand into Africa and the Middle East. In addition to the 604, the company operates 757s and 737s, G650s, G550s and G450s; a Challenger 605; and a Legacy 600.
