Since receiving FAA STC approval in October, Quiet Technology Aerospace (QTA) reports sales are strong for its Bombardier Learjet 60 engine inlet upgrade program. In the first 90 days of program operation, the company has taken orders for 14 inlet upgrade modifications and 10 inlets are currently upgraded and in service.
Combating an expensive and time-consuming problem of aluminum inner-barrel engine inlet corrosion and acoustic screen degradation on the Learjetâs PW305 engines, QTA now provides a lighter-weight carbon graphite composite barrel. The installed inlet does not change the original appearance of the intake. The company offers a loaner and exchange process, along with a lifetime structural and corrosion warranty.
QTA has similar programs under way for other corrosion-prone inlets and says it expects to announce FAA STC approval for them by the third quarter.
