Content Body

GE Aviation has inked two long-term maintenance-related deals at the Farnborough Airshow. The engine-maker signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik concerning upkeep of GE9X and GEnx-2B turbofans.

GE-branded service agreements for the engines include GE’s TrueChoice materials agreement as well as provisions for tech support and assistance on overhaul work-scoping, component repair licenses, joint repair development and training. Lufthansa is the largest operator of Boeing’s GEnx-2B-powered 747-8, and the launch customer for the 777-9X, with 34 on order due to enter service in 2020. The two companies plan a joint venture overhaul facility to begin operations in 2018.

Separately, GE and MRO provider StandardAero have renewed their agreement making CFM56 or CF34 overhauled by StandardAero eligible for GE’s TRUEngine status. The program, with more than 12,000 engines enrolled, tracks and verifies an engine’s content and maintenance history.
