Registration for Bombardier’s 20th annual Safety Standdown in the U.S., to be held September 27 to 29 in Wichita, is now open. The seminar is open to all aviation professionals regardless of aircraft operated and is free of charge for attendees, but space is limited and registration is required.
General sessions in the mornings will be presented by industry experts and cover a range of safety topics, including crew communication, crisis management, substance impairment, aviation security, lessons from the NTSB and drones. Breakout workshops in the afternoons have been shortened to allow participants to attend two per day, and all workshops also will be offered twice during the week. Workshops include worldwide airspace changes; runway incursion and excursion avoidance; overcoming stalled flight upsets; medical certification and tips; crew resource management; bottom-up leadership for safety; automation airmanship; advanced weather concepts; and professionalism in aviation maintenance.
For those who can’t attend in person, Bombardier will be live webcasting the general sessions and select workshops. Remote attendees can also interact and ask questions of presenters in realtime. Webcasts of sessions and select workshops from last year’s Safety Standdown are still available for viewing, too.
