Content Body

Bombardier Business Aircraft has renewed its partnership for three years with Phoenix-based Aviation Performance Solutions (APS) to provide upset prevention and recovery and training (UPRT) as part of the former's Leading Edge program to crews of buyers of new Learjets, Challengers and Globals.

APS provides the training in piston Extra 300Ls, the Siai Marchetti S211 jet trainer and other high-performance jets (A-4 Skyhawk, Alpha Jet), as well as in simulators. It is headquartered at Arizona’s Mesa-Gateway Airport and conducts additional training from locations in Dallas, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Dothan, Ala. (U.S. military).

All training complies with FAA Advisory Circular 120-109A on stall and stick-pusher training, IATA guidance material and best practices for the implementation of upset prevention and recovery training, and FAA Advisory Circular 120-111 on upset prevention and recovery training. APS says it is the only Part 141 flight school in the world that is certified for complete delivery of stall/spin; upset prevention and recovery; and instrument upset-recovery training.

"The Bombardier Leading Edge program promotes knowledge and skills-based training, along with each individual pilot's discipline and responsibility as essential elements of aviation professionalism and safety," said Janet Schiebelhut, manager for Safety Standdown programs at Bombardier. "Loss of control in flight is aviation's most lethal threat, and it is Bombardier's commitment to provide our customers and operators with the industry's most effective safety training available."
