CBAA Launches Canadian Schedulers and Dispatchers Scholarship

“It’s such a long process for a young pilot to find his or her way into a business aviation career in Canada,” lamented Rudy Toering, president and CEO of the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA). “We thought that by encouraging youth who are interested in aviation to pursue the mission-critical positions of scheduling and dispatching we can get them into the field earlier and keep them longer,” he told AIN at the launch this week at NBAA 2016.

“Schedulers and dispatchers don’t fix or fly, but they do everything else that is necessary to get aircraft from point A to point B. CBAA is proud to offer this scholarship to advance their education and training,” Toering continued.

Support for the scholarship is courtesy of Air Service, Air Sprint, FlightSafety International, Jet Aviation, Million Air, NBAA, Sheltair, Signature Flight Support, Skyplan and World Fuel, all of which have signed five-year agreements to fund the training scholarship. NBAA is offering the scholarship recipients a 25-percent discount off its member rates for training, as well.

“This scholarship will vary in value, depending on the need of the recipient,” explained Toering. The application should be available on the CBAA website early next year.
