Honda Aircraft’s HondaJet is entering Part 135 charter service this week with Phoenix-based Cutter Aviation. Cutter, which also serves as the Southwest dealer for the new light jet, completed all the requirements to add the aircraft to its charter fleet and was slated to begin flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
“We are delighted to be the first charter provider offering flights with the new HondaJet,” said Gordon Paige, Cutter’s director of operations, noting the aircraft seats up to six passengers, has a fully enclosed lavatory, and provides more baggage space than competitors in the cabin size.
Cutter has added two of the jets to its Part 135 certificate.
Honda received FAA certification for the aircraft a year ago and had delivered 18 through the end of September. Cutter this past spring staged a traveling roadshow throughout California and Nevada to introduce the aircraft to potential customers.
The aircraft, which features an over-the-wing-engine-mount design, cruises at 420 knots, reaches an altitude of 43,000 feet and has a range of up to 1,400 statute miles.
