Stevens Aviation recently completed its first Gulfstream GIV Future Air Navigation System (Fans-1/A) upgrade. Performed at its Greenville, South Carolina facility, the Fans-1/A upgrade enables GIV operators to comply with international mandates. The work involved installation of a new Universal SSDTU data loader, UL801 communications management unit, CVR-120A cockpit voice recorder and UNS-1Ew flight management system.

The technology provides safety, operating costs and time benefits, said Stevens, which has supported a range of business aircraft for more than 60 years. In addition, the technology brings aircraft into compliance with mandates in many regions around the world for ADS-B, as well as stipulations for Fans-1/A capabilities in regions such as the North Atlantic Tracks.

The GIV installation went flawlessly, said Mike LaConto, avionics manager of Stevens Aviation’s Greenville location, adding, “The customer left on time, squawk-free.”
