Less than two weeks after launching European operations with flights from London Luton to Ibiza, Spain, Surf Air is expanding its all-you-can-fly membership-based service to Cannes, France. Surf Air formally launched its European service with an initial flight from London Luton Airport to Ibiza, Spain, on June 23. The Cannes route was added this week and plans call for the company to add routes to Zurich, Munich, Geneva and Milan by year-end.
The launch in Europe has generated a jump in membership applications, the company said. “The impressive level of interest we’ve seen since our maiden flight in Europe proves that this model is the future of air travel," said Simon Talling-Smith, CEO of Surf Air in Europe. "Surf Air’s streamlined service means no queues, no tickets, and no stress.”
The Surf Air Europe service is offered for monthly subscriptions starting from £1,750 ($2,229). The company this spring struck an agreement with UK-management company FlairJet to manage the Surf Air European operation’s first Embraer Phenom 300.
Surf Air moves into Europe four years after it was founded in the U.S. The company recently expanded with the acquisition of Dallas-based competitor Rise and now serves 17 U.S. destinations from hubs in California and Texas.
