Content Body

Duncan Aviation has performed its first ADS-B upgrade on a Gulfstream G150. The company’s satellite avionics shop in Kansas City, Missouri, upgraded the business jet’s Rockwell Collins TDR-94Ds, installed an ADS-B fail annunciator and wired the interface between the transponders and GPS receivers using the AML-STC for Part 25 aircraft developed by CMD Flight Solutions.

That AML-STC covers a variety of Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft equipped with avionics from Rockwell Collins, Honeywell and Universal Avionics. A stand-alone wide-area augmentation system (WAAS) GPS option is also available for operators working on a tight budget.

The company’s avionics shop in Lincoln, Nebraska, has been authorized to perform the actual upgrades on the TDR-94s. It receives the units from its satellite shops, and can turn them around in as little as one day with advanced scheduling. For the G150, the Kansas City facility completed the installation in seven business days, easily meeting the customer’s schedule. By permitting the upgrade of the existing system, the STC allows the operator to keep itstheir original OEM-installed equipment intact, helping retain the aircraft’s value.
