Flight training provider and simulator manufacturer CAE and Tech3Lab have partnered in a research project to analyze the pilot user experience during simulator training. The partnership is supported by the Institute for Data Valorisation, which was founded by the Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal.
The goal of the collaborative agreement between CAE and Tech3Lab is to apply the research in user experience to improve pilot performance. According to CAE, “Biometrics, neuroscience and big data analysis will be used to study behaviors in a training context and identify high-performance factors.”
“Thanks to the expertise of this seasoned team, in collaboration with the knowledge of our employees in engineering and our pilots, we will be able to analyze the key factors for effective training in flight simulators with unprecedented quantitative depth,” said Marc St-Hilaire, CAE vice president of technology and innovation. He added that the research “could revolutionize training” and that “this will allow us to optimize pilot training and improve passenger safety as a whole.”
Tech3Lab is a teaching and research laboratory at HEC Montreal and member of the Institute for Data Valorisation, and it specializes in user experience research, including developing new research tools and training professionals for industry and scientific research in the field of user experience.
