Content Body

Missouri-based Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Services has received EASA and Transport Canada STC approvals for installation of the Garmin GTN navigators, GTX transponders and GTS TCAS II in Cessna Citations. The STC covers the Garmin GTN 750/650, GDL 69/A satellite datalink, GMA 35c audio panel, GTX 3000 transponders and GTS 8000 TCAS II in the Citation 500/501/550/S550/560/650/Bravo/Encore/Ultra and 560XL.

According to the company, this combination of equipment offers a path to meet upcoming NextGen mandates, as well as modernizing the cockpit and removing aging Honeywell Primus II avionics. The Garmin GTS 8000 is up to date with Change 7.1-compliant software, which is now required in Europe, and it also has the ability to receive ADS-B IN traffic data in the U.S.

Columbia Avionics president Lance Fox reported strong interest in the STC among Citation 560XL operators. In addition to multiple Citation 560XLs scheduled for modification at its facility, Columbia has a contract for 20 560XL STC sales. Operators of the aircraft that have this STC performed and later wish to install the Garmin G5000 touchscreen-controlled flight deck will still be able to retain the GTX 3000, GTS 8000 and GDL 69A.
