Esterline Avionics Systems will supply the synthetic vision system primary flight display (SVS PFD) for Honeywell's Primus Elite 875/885 Advanced Features (AF) upgrade, the companies announced on Tuesday at NBAA 2017.

The SVS PFD-875/885 upgrade pairing has European Aviation Safety Agency technical standard order approval, as well as "airworthiness approval" from both the FAA and Brazil's Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil, Esterline said. The upgrade is applicable to the Gulfstream IV, IV-SP and V; Bombardier Global Express, XRS and 5000; Embraer Legacy 600, 650 and 650E; Dassault Falcon 900C and 900EX; Cessna Citation X; and Dornier 328.

Synthetic vision provides a 3D color image of the virtual flight path, including runways, terrain and obstacles, increasing pilot situational awareness and reducing workload. The AF package integrates synthetic vision with charts and maps, video capability and XM ground-based weather on Primus Elite’s LCD flight displays.

The new Esterline-Honeywell agreement expands cooperation between the two companies on the 875/885 upgrades, said Esterline Avionics systems president Michel Potvin. Esterline is the supplier of the 875/885 display units, which replace the CRT-based displays of several Primus systems, including the 1000/2000/2000XP, SPZ-8400/8500 and select SPZ-8000-series units, he said.

Esterline's NBAA show booth (N1504) also features its line of ADS-B Out upgrade packages, electronic flight bags and aircraft information servers. Its Korry Electronics division is displaying its line of ADS-B annunciators, utility control system touchscreen displays and aircraft data concentrators.

Meanwhile, Esterline's CMC Electronics CMA-5024 GPS/SBAS landing system sensor unit (GLSSU) has received an EASA supplemental type certificate for installation on ATR regional turboprops. The STC, developed by Aeroconsiel and tested on an unnamed European airline's ATR 42, means the ATR family can be outfitted with the CMA-5024's localizer performance with vertical guidance system (LPV) approach capability.
